Zektor’s Vector Generator
MAMEVector graphics were pretty high-tech for their time. In a world where raster-you looked like a square and a raster-dragon looked like a Lego duck, vector-based displays would give you higher resolution images without the jaggies.
These days you can emulate pretty much any old arcade game, but games like Star Wars and Asteroids just don’t look the same on a standard computer monitor. Using an oscilloscope or an actual vector monitor gives you the right look and feel but can be a pain to interface with your emulator.
Zektor has come out with the ZVG vector generator, which connects to your parallel port and allows you to interface with WG, Amplifone, Sega, and Vectrex monitors. It will also drive an oscilloscope if you’d like. Combine this bad boy with Vector MAME and you’ve got yourself authentic vector action.
