Nintendo's new DSi- What's Inside?
04/08/09
Nintendo's newest portable gaming console, the DSi, has finally hit the shelves. We already know that
Fortunately the folks over at ifixit have more fun taking stuff apart than actually playing with it. They've posted a DSi teardown with plenty of pictures and notes. I found it interesting that this is the first handheld Nintendo has made that doesn't require a tri-wing screwdriver to open. Thanks, Nintendo, for making it a little easier for everyone to hack! ![]()

It only has ONE touch screen. Well at least that's what nintendo says. I don't know if you found out that it actually has two touch screens when you disassembled it.

That's 2 LCDs, the touch screen is a resistive grid using that four pin flex cable on the bottom. Very efficient, but if you nick the wrong section of it, its toast. ;)
Its also excellent at detecting counterfeit games, so keep your old DS if you buy a lot of "discount" games in thailand. :P

Oops, I forgot to change that (early rumors said it would have two touch screens). Thanks for catching it!
