Ambient Reality Effect

User lightsaber posted a link to the Ambient Reality Effect (A-R-E) web site, which offers a series of ready-made products similar to Philips Ambilight or the homemade MoMoLight I wrote about back in '06. A-R-E offers a selection of controllers and LED strips that you mount behind your monitor to get your mood lighting. Of course they also sell the software to control it all.

The product they had that intrigued me the most was their A-R-E DMX software, which lets you control DMX-512 lighting with a video signal. You would be able to use LED PARs or whatever color-changing wash instrument you want to add the mood lighting to huge projection screens, or even find other unique ways of controlling a light show with video.
